Job Description

Bard Early College New Orleans (BECNO), a partnership between Bard College and the Louisiana Department of Education invites applications for an adjunct faculty position in Global Languages for a 4-credit course taught year round. Our fall semester starts in August for the first level of the course, the spring semester will continue with the second level. Candidates must be available for Faculty and Staff Orientation in July. 
 

Bard Early College in New Orleans engages bright, intellectually curious students through a tuition-free, immersive liberal arts curriculum offered to students in the last two years of high school and resulting in an Associate of Arts (AA) degree from Bard College. By promoting authentic and supportive undergraduate opportunities, Bard Early College faculty and staff prepare students of all academic backgrounds for further college success. Our academic program emphasizes student-led learning in small seminar-style classes. We offer team-based intentional support for our non-traditional students, and a culture of collaborative pedagogical development for our teachers. 
 

We are seeking candidates with familiarity using participatory pedagogy, a focus on interdisciplinary connections in their curricular design, and a demonstrated commitment to promoting diverse working and learning environments. We are seeking educators with a commitment to social justice, who are passionate about their fields of study, and interested in working to advance equity through rigorous curricula made accessible to students with varied academic preparation.

The  Global Languages class will meet three times a week, including a lab. We have some flexibility on the class days/times.  The Fall semester tentatively begins the first week of August.

Start Date: July 15 for Faculty and Staff Orientation, beginning of August for start of school

Compensation: $6000 per language course

Required Qualifications

  • Candidates with expertise in a Global Language
  • A minimum of a Master's Degree up to a Ph.D. (or ABD) in subject area
  • High school and/or college teaching experience
