Full Time – 40 hours per week average, salaried + benefits (paid time off, 403b match, Health Savings Account, and possibility of housing provided)
 

Job Description:

Maple Plain Community Church is seeking a dynamic and passionate Pastor of Student Ministries & Young Adults to join our team. Under the direction of the Family Life Pastor, this individual will oversee all ministries for students grades 6-12 and young adults, fostering a vibrant and engaging community that encourages spiritual growth and discipleship.

 

Our ideal Pastor of Student Ministries & Young Adults candidate is someone:

- Who has a heart to reach, disciple, and encourage students & young adults toward growth and maturity in Jesus Christ

- Who is highly relational, cares deeply for others, and has strong communication skills.

- Who is a passionate team-player ready to share ideas and interests with a growing body of believers.

 

Duties and Responsibilities in Student Ministries (~30 hours per week)

1. Leadership & Oversight: Assume responsibility for the student ministry programs of the church including Wednesday night & Sunday morning programming, special events, youth missions trips, etc. for both Middle (grades 6-8) and High School (grades 9-12) ministries. This is done in partnership with the Family Life Pastor. 

2. Teaching & Discipleship: Develop and implement discipleship programs and curriculum that equip students to grow in their faith, deepen their understanding of Scripture, and live out their Christian beliefs in their daily lives. 

3. Connect with Students: Invest time and interest in the lives of the students outside of church sponsored events to further develop leader-student relationships and assist in their spiritual development. 

4. Innovative Events: Strategically plan, promote, and supervise activities, outreaches, or ministries for the purpose of connecting students, promoting growth, and strengthening commitment to Christ.

5. Team Building: Empower volunteers to serve in various capacities within student ministries, fostering a culture of teamwork, collaboration, and servant leadership.  The Family Life Pastor will assist in recruitment and training.

6. Communication: Keep consistent communication with parents and coordinate with the rest of the ministry staff to regularly schedule special events.

 

Duties and Responsibilities in Young Adult Ministries (~5 hours per week)

1. Leadership & Oversight: Assume responsibility for ministries to welcome, engage, and disciple young adults.

2. Connect with Young Adults: Maintain relationships with young adults within the church body.  Follow up with students after high school graduation and schedule special events or ministries to include them.

3. Innovative Events: Plan and organize occasional activities for the outreach and fellowship of young adults.

4. Team Building: Recruit, train and support a young adult ministry leadership team of volunteers. Explore opportunities to include college interns in the ministries of MPCC.

5. Teaching & Discipleship: Lead or facilitate discipleship, fellowship, and teaching opportunities for young adults.

 

Duties and Responsibilities as Staff Pastor (~5 hours per week)

1. Administrative plans, budgets, announcements, and other necessary information to be communicated to the church staff and congregation in a timely fashion.  Serve as a member of the CE Advisory Team.

2. Participate in weekly staff meetings (as needed), and regular Elder and congregational meetings with written reports.

3. Actively engage as a member of the church; Develop and maintain wholesome pastoral relationships with all. 

4. Actively participate with the staff and leaders to accomplish and encourage the church's vision and goals.

5. Perform other duties as may, from time-to-time, be determined necessary and appropriate to the position. 

 

Job Qualifications:

-A Christian believer; someone with a clear testimony of their Christian faith, an understanding of their call to Christian ministry, and living a lifestyle in agreement with our statement of faith 

-Strong leadership, communication, and relational skills 

-Previous youth ministry or related experience of 1-3 years 

-Bachelor's Degree in associated field preferred
