IT Operations & Support Senior Technician - ITSD

The Information Technology Services Division is seeking a customer service centered candidate for the Tier 1 Support Team. This position serves a vital role supporting staff throughout the department. The IT Operations Support Technician Senior provides in-person, telephone, and electronic messaging technical support. Candidates must have excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships with internal business partners.

If relocating to Idaho, the Department of Health & Welfare does not reimburse the cost of relocating. The department does not sponsor anyone with a work visa.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:

  • Provides a wide range of technical assistance to system users
  • Installs software and hardware, including non-standard configurations
  • May work as part of a team or work independently on small projects with supervision
  • Resolves diverse problems and queries received from users or the help desk requiring troubleshooting for solutions
  • Supports testing and documentation activities

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

You must possess all the minimum qualifications below to pass the exam for this position.   • Good knowledge of computer trends, software, capabilities, and terminology. Typically gained by valid IT certification OR an applicable two-year degree OR at least two years of work experience where advising others in this area was a predominant duty of the job.
  • Good knowledge of computer hardware and software installation and troubleshooting. Typically gained by valid IT certification OR an applicable two-year degree OR at least one year of work experience where installing and troubleshooting hardware and software was a predominant duty of the job.
  • Experience working with network systems, evaluating and resolving computer, system, and user problems including compatibility conflicts, application operations, hardware malfunctions, and telecommunications problems. Typically gained by at least one year of work experience working with network systems, evaluating and resolving computer, system, and user problems including compatibility conflicts, application operations, hardware malfunctions, and telecommunications problems.
  • Experience installing and maintaining computer hardware, software, and peripherals in the network and/or multi-platform environment. Typically gained by at least one year of work experience installing and maintaining computer hardware, software, and peripherals in the network and/or multi-platform environment.
  • Experience providing one-to-one IT training. Typically gained by at least one year of work experience providing one-to-one IT training.

 

Below is preferred experience. It is not required for the position but applicants with this experience may receive consideration over other applicants.

  1. Experience supporting automated OS deployment tools (such as SCCM, LANDesk OSD, Symantec Ghost, etc.). Typically gained by at least one year of related work experience.
  2. Experience providing customer service. Typically gained by at least one year of related work experience.
