ELL (English Language Learners) Program Coordinator

Position:           ELL (English Language Learners) Coordinator, K-12

Duties:             Coordinate the district-wide ELL program and teach students identified as ELL

Qualifications:            

  • Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying.
    • Equivalent to an Associate’s degree from an accredited college with major coursework in liberal arts, English, education, or related field, and two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience working in an ELL environment. A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in one of the above-mentioned fields is desirable. Specialized training on second language acquisition theory and methodology. English as a Second Language endorsement and/or B.A. or B.S. Degree is preferred but not required.     
  • Provides direction, training, orientation, and guidance to assigned staff; prepares weekly and daily schedules; provides input and documentation for performance evaluations; assists in the recruitment and selection of staff and provides recommendations.
  • Evaluates programs and curriculum; proposes and assists in developing program changes; implements program modifications based upon evaluation results.
  • Coordinates the translation of materials for the languages represented in the program.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate, work effectively with, and relate to students of different age/ability levels and with varying needs
  • Collaborates with administration and staff in any and all areas where need is shown, and shows expertise in evaluating and accessing information in all formats
  • Maintain accurate records, monitor and record student progress; coordinate/administer testing to ensure all students are tested at required intervals
  • Monitors/develops lesson plans for English reading, writing, speaking and listening
  • Self-directed, self-motivated, and goal-oriented highly desirable
  • Team oriented; history of professional growth; demonstrated ability to work with a wide variety of personalities, settings, parents, teaching staff, para-educators and administrators

Salary: Professional Non-Certified Salary Schedule (2023-2024 Base = $57,410.00) Salary dependent on Board approval.

Employment Term:     Full-time – 185-day contract

Beginning Date:          2024-2025 reporting date for new staff – August 15, 2024
