Converting Operator

Job Title: Converting Operator

Classification: Hourly 

Reports To: Production Supervisor 

Department: Converted Mini Roll             

 

Summary of Job

The Converting Operator is expected to safely and efficiently stage necessary material for the converting operation; perform machine set-up and operate the converting line to produce finished product that meet or exceed all manufacturing and quality standards. The operator may need to assist on or operate other Converting equipment, assist on the extrusion lines, or in the shipping area.

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities 

  • Load WIP rolls of material on to the unwinds.
  • Set up the machine for various products.
  • Safely and efficiently produce converted product to the required specifications.
  • Remove excess trim scrap and throw away in compactor or place in recycling area.
  • Meet or exceed production quantity and quality standards.
  • Perform quality checks.
  • Operate the band saw safely and efficiently.
  • Relocate the finished pallet to the designated storage area.
  • Work up to a 12-hour shift as needed.
  • Read Shop Floor orders written in English.
  • Read accurately up to 1/32” on a measuring device like a tape measure.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Enter production and quality check data electronically on a computer.
  • Assist on or operate other converting or manufacturing equipment and perform preventative maintenance on the laminator as required.
  • Track production data as required.

 

Environment

  • Exposure to moving equipment.
  • Inside work.
  • Heat may exceed 90 degrees Fahrenheit. 
  • Humidity may exceed 80%.
  • Noise may exceed 85dB+.

 

Physical Characteristics

  • Frequent standing, stooping, squatting, up to 75%.
  • Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling (up to 50 lbs).
  • Occasional typing/keyboarding/preparing documents.

 

Position Type

  • Full time.
  • Shift work: 
  • Overtime expected per business demand.

 

Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum 1 year manufacturing preferred
