Lory Student Center Operations Student Office Assistant

The mission of the Lory Student Center (LSC) is to serve as a student-centered organization at the heart of campus, providing programs and services that create an inclusive community and inspire active, engaged learning. As an auxiliary enterprise within the Division of Student Affairs, the Lory Student Center is a comprehensive student union recognized nationally as one of the leading university centers. The LSC annual operating budget is approximately $40 million. Nearly 125 full-time career staff and 650 student and hourly staff serve about 24,000 people (about the seating capacity of Madison Square Garden) entering the facility daily and hosts about 13,000 annual events and meetings.  

The work of LSC staff members is guided by and in alignment with CSU’s Principles of Community, the Division of Student Affairs Values, and the LSC Mission. The Student Coordinator has an abiding commitment to and active promotion of an equitable and inclusive environment, and the development and enhancement of collaborative relationships. This position actively participates in personal and professional training centering on diversity, equity, and inclusion awareness, behaviors, skills, and competencies that facilitate personal and professional growth and development.  

Minimum qualifications:

  • Demonstrate a commitment to CSU’s Principles of Community, Division of Student Affairs Values, and the Lory Student Center Mission
  • Current fee-paying, graduate student

Preferred qualifications:

  • Evidence of being dependable, motivated, flexible, and taking initiative as demonstrated by personal experiences and/or previous employment.
  • Event planning experience, small and/or large scale.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as a team member.
  • Proficient problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent communication skills, and ability to present to diverse audiences, specifically racially, ethnically, and socioeconomically diverse backgrounds.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Job Description/Responsibilities:

  • Position is available for the summer.
  • Seeking a reliable professional student employee with a willingness to learn, excellent customer service skills and attention to detail.
  • Processes/assigns LSC work order requests and communicates assignment via text to technician.
  • Personal/people skills: successful candidate must work well with others.
  • Work Hours: May work between 30-40 hours/week.
  • Schedule: Work hours would be between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, with preferred afternoon shift on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
  • Reports to the Operations Manager for the Lory Student Center
  • Training will be provided.

Job Duties:

This position may include but isn't limited to:

  • Plays a key role in processing service requests through work order system (ReADY/Ram Works and AiM) which tracks work orders, and keys.
  • Greets people-this is a front-facing role and successful candidate must represent the LSC and Operations with professionalism.
  • Takes messages.
  • Sorts/delivers mail.
  • Processes work orders, key and card access requests 
  • Communicates with Operations Team as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
