Elementary School Principal: 2024-2025 School Year

JOB BRIEF:    

  • To use leadership, management, supervisory, and monitoring skills to promote the educational development of all faculty, staff, and students.

LOCATION: Oliver Brown Elementary 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:    

  • A Master’s Degree or higher with emphasis in educational administration.
  • Kansas certification as a building administrator.
  • At least five years’ experience in education including experience as a classroom teacher.
  • Experience working with racially, culturally, linguistically, and economically diverse populations.
  • All USD 383 employees must pass a background check.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:   

  • Leads, establishes, and maintains an effective learning climate in the school.
  • Initiates, designs, and implements programs to meet specific needs of the school.
  • Prepares and submits the school’s budgetary requests and monitors expenditures of funds.
  • Interprets and enforces district policies and administrative state and federal regulations.
  • Cultivates relationships through visibility and communication with students and parents.
  • Assists in the development, revisions, and evaluation of the curriculum.
  • Maintains high standards of student conduct in accordance with district policy.
  • Conducts school staff meetings.
  • Oversees hiring, personnel, and staff evaluations within the school.
  • Prepares and maintains accurate records.
  • Supervises the daily use of the school facilities for both academic and nonacademic purposes.
  • Establishes and maintains favorable relationships with community stakeholders to foster understanding and solicit support for overall school objectives and programs.
  • Attends or assigns a designee to serve as the Local Education Agency (LEA) representative at all IEP meetings in the school.
  • Performs other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as may be assigned.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT/SALARY:    

  • 220-day Contract.
  • Salary and work year to be established by the Board.

REPORTS TO:    

  • Superintendent of Schools.

RETIREMENT:  

  • USD 383 makes monthly contributions to a 403(b)-retirement account for all certified and eligible employees.
  • KPERS (Kansas Public Employees Retirement System): 6% monthly staff contribution. Vested after five years.

TECHNOLOGY:   

  • District provided devices - iPad, laptop and/or desktop for certified staff.

PAID COLLABORATION TIME.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
