This position will learn about various components of the maintenance field office out of Lake City, Gainesville, Perry, or Chiefland.  The intern will work under the direct supervision of the Maintenance Program Manager.  The intern will be exposed to various field and maintenance activities in multiple counties including routine maintenance activities such as shoulder work, pavement failures, ditch cleaning, sinkholes and sign installation.  The intern will also be exposed to the automotive shop, welding shop and warehouse where the individual will spend time learning various activities.  The Intern will be exposed to technical and managerial situations and acquire professional skills that are transferable to any technical position.

The Intern will participate in activities to gain field experience and help out in:

  • Improve the efficiency of Field Reviews and Inspection
  • Improve the data processing and management
  • Participate in field inspections and reviews to acquire hands on knowledge of the work performed
  • Hands on work in the automotive shop and welding shop
  • Hands on work in the warehouse assisting with inventory
  • Assistance with special projects as needed
  • Initiate recommendations for process improvements
  • Participate in technical and management meetings to understand the mission and goals of the Maintenance office

Criteria

Target students include those pursuing degrees in Automotive,  welding, Engineering Specialties, or related fields, students may be at Undergraduate or Graduate level.
