Member Support/Services Intern

The Michigan House Democratic Caucus is offering a paid internship opportunity for a motivated individual to join our team as a Member Support/Services Intern. This position provides invaluable support to members of the Democratic Caucus in their legislative outreach efforts across Michigan. The Member Support/Services Intern will work closely with Member Support/Services Advisors to organize community events, engage constituents, and assist in various outreach initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities:
Under the guidance of the Deputy Directors of Member Support and Member Services, the Member Support/Services Intern will:
● Assist in coordinating and supporting town halls, coffee hours, and other community events within Michigan districts.
● Learn how to conduct effective outreach including door-to-door constituent engagement across Michigan.
● Participate in cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with Caucus members and their office staff through regular communication and resource sharing.
● Contribute to research projects, and develop constituent outreach plans.
● Learn how to operate databases and software tools widely used across the political field
● Undertake special projects and tasks as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
We are seeking candidates who possess the following qualifications:
● Professionalism, resourcefulness, and a strong commitment to time management and organizational skills.
● Work Collaboratively as a member of a team. 
● Excellent written and oral communication abilities.
● Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams), with a willingness to learn other software applications as needed.
● Independence, self-motivation, attention to detail, and the ability to take initiative in a collaborative team environment.
● Prior experience, interest, or coursework in community organizing or politics is preferred, but not required.
● Access to reliable transportation for travel within Michigan districts.
