Physical Therapy Peer Tutor

Physical Therapy Peer Tutors facilitate student learning by assisting students in clarifying course content and by promoting use of effective study strategies. Tutors may consult with faculty for course resources, guidance, and direction to support their work. The courses that are supported by peer tutors in the PT program are anatomy, pathophysiology, and biomechanics. Tutors will conduct scheduled one-on-one tutoring sessions throughout the semester as needed. Tutors will use the PT student resource room RG 2112 to store their materials and conduct sessions. Tutors will not provide answers for graded homework assignments but will model problem solving strategies and explain course specific concepts. Peer tutors will work 5-10 hours per week. 

Peer tutor job expectations:

  1. Assist students with course content
  2. Facilitate development of effective related study skills
  3. Conduct one-on-one tutoring sessions
  4. Be available as needed during anatomy study table
  5. Maintain record of number of students tutored and for which courses
  6. Maintain communication with program director about peer tutoring program work & issues
  7. Consult faculty for course resources, guidance & direction as needed
  8. Work 5-10 hours per week

Peer tutor qualifications:

  1. Currently enrolled as second of third year PT student
  2. Excellent communication skills
  3. Good organizational & time management skills
  4. Committed to helping other students learn
  5. Comfortable tutoring content in anatomy, pathophysiology, biomechanics
