Project Manager/Social Science Technician

Dr. Niyantri Ravindran, assistant professor in the department of Human Development and Family Science, is looking for a full-time project manger/social science technician for an NSF-funded grant examining the early development of math anxiety in children from Kindergarten through elementary school. The project manager/technician will be responsible for recruiting families to participate in the research study, screening participants for eligibility, running participant visits (which involve collecting observational and physiological data, conducting child cognitive tests and interviews, and administering surveys to parents), tracking participants’ contact information and contacting them for follow-up visits, managing participant data, and assisting with processing of observational and physiological data. 

The position requires a candidate with a basic background in social science research and exposure to research methods and designs, strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills, and basic computer skills. A flexible schedule is required as the position may involve working some nights and weekends in place of regular hours, depending on participant availability. 

A Bachelor’s degree in a social science field is preferred. Some experience working with children is preferred. This position is ideal for those looking to gain additional research experience prior to applying to graduate school. Although not required, the employee will have the opportunity to co-author research papers from this project.

The position is available for one year and maybe renewable for another year, contingent on availability of funds.
