IT Security Analyst Intern

JOB SUMMARY: 

 

Rahr Corporation (Rahr) is a family-owned global leader in the production and distribution of barley malt and related brewing supplies, in operation since 1847. To support long-term growth and sustainability, the IT Security Analyst Intern will help Rahr’s Security and Infrastructure staff ensure the security and protection of company information systems and data. This role involves monitoring environments using provided tools, increasing process efficiencies, recommending improvements with automation, documenting procedures across various IT Security domains, and providing support as directed by management. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Identify, assess, and manage information security risks across the organization. 
  • Support vulnerability scans and penetration testing on applications and systems. 
  • Maintain systems, triage and remediate issues, and conduct user training and communication. 
  • Participate in vulnerability response, investigation, and disclosure activities as needed. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to incorporate security requirements into projects and initiatives. 
  • Research and stay up to date on emerging security threats and technologies. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

Minimum Education and Experience: 

  • Seeking majors in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology and Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related field. 
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience in the Computer Science or Information Security field (preferred). 
  • Strong understanding of cyber security concepts and principles. 
  • Knowledge of network topology and best practices. 
  • Understanding of Firewall access rules and the ability to audit them quarterly. 
  • Ability to write small scripts for task automation is advantageous. 
  • Additional knowledge in the information security domain is advantageous. 
  • Work effectively with the team to identify security problems and improve the security aspects of our service(s). 
  • Assess risks affecting the integrity, availability, or confidentiality of data, systems, or services. 
  • Troubleshoot, research the root cause of, and resolve security or risk issues with guidance. 
  • Classify, store, and handle data in accordance with policy or best practices. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
