Job Description and Duties

If the answer is YES to any of the above questions, this is a great opportunity for you! The California Department of Fish and Wildlife, La Grange Field Office is currently looking for help. As a Fish and Wildlife Scientific Aid you will gain experience collecting fisheries and environmental data with our salmon monitoring teams in the San Joaquin, Stanislaus, Tuolumne and Merced Rivers. In addition, you can join our data management team and help compile, process and analyze the fisheries data collected during the field season. If you prefer to work with tools and heavy equipment, there are opportunities to assist our Habitat Restoration Shop build screens, and restore floodplain habitat.

Our field office is located in La Grange, California along the Tuolumne River in Stanislaus County.

 The Fish and Wildlife Scientific Aid classification is a non-testing classification

Working Conditions

Incumbent will often work in and/or near water, walk on uneven and/or muddy terrain, be expected to work under various weather conditions. Incumbent may be asked to lift animal carcasses or heavy equipment.
