TV Entertainment Digital & Design Internships – Academic Year

JOB DESCRIPTION – 

Academic Year Internship Program:

Program Dates: September 16, 2024 – April 18, 2025 

Time Commitment: 16-24 hours per week. Exact schedule to be determined based on business need. We will do our best to accommodate course schedules.

The Entertainment Group develops and schedules the network’s primetime, late-night, and daytime entertainment programming, including USA, SYFY, Bravo, E!, Oxygen, and Universal Kids. NBC’s quality programs and balanced line-up have earned the network critical acclaim, numerous awards and ratings success, including most recently winning the traditional September-to-May season in primetime’s key demo, marking the network’s third win in four years. NBC has earned more Emmy Awards than any network in television history.     

  

 

Areas of placement may include, but are not limited to:  
   

Bravo Digital Video: This intern will work alongside Producers/Editors on the Audience Growth & Development video team, with a major focus on Bravo. Our goal is to create video content to help market the Bravo TV shows and the Bravo stars in the best way possible. Our interns work on multiple video projects from pre-production through post-production and delivery. Our interns have the opportunity to work on a variety of video projects. Examples include editing an Instagram story/reels, putting together behind-the-scenes videos filmed at show reunions, creating a 10-minute-long YouTube mash-up video, and helping research throughout a months-long project. They interns will also help develop creative ideas for upcoming interviews and shows. 

Entertainment Digital Publishing: The Digital Publishing Group is a multiplatform publishing team responsible for content programming, promotion and shortform video publishing across our digital platforms. With a focus on data and analytics, the group helps drive our video content and publishing strategy for Dotcom and YouTube. Prospective interns will have exposure to all things YouTube, from content management, analytics and content brainstorming. They will also have exposure to social media content planning and publishing across YouTube, Facebook and Twitter. Exciting projects will include the actual writing of YouTube community tab posts and sourcing of content for the creation of mashup videos. 

Oxygen & SYFY Design: Using an existing keyart, the design intern will use Photoshop to help us to make the 75-200 assets needed for each show as it travels across the nonlinear entertainment space. From streaming apps to marketing opportunities, they will be responsible for consumer-facing layouts as well as help execute assets on our social media feeds  

Oxygen Editorial & Digital: Oxygen Digital is one of the premier destinations for true crime fans, where our audience will get not only the latest content based on the Oxygen Network’s popular shows, but also independently produced and curated crime news and feature content, including news articles, videos and podcasts. The main tasks will revolve around researching and writing articles in support of Oxygen’s broadcast shows, as well as for the news team. There may be some website upkeep involved, editing various pages as needed 

Product Design, Entertainment Audience Acquisition & Growth: Conduct competitive analyses of other websites that operate in the same space, help conduct usability tests of our websites and create a report showcasing your findings, identify design problems and areas of improvement and prepare reports of possible solutions for senior management, work on current projects with lead designers and stakeholders to design wireframes, mockups, and prototypes 

USA & Universal Kids Creative: This intern will work on media management, writing / brainstorming and video editing. The intern will assist in managing various forms of media for USA and Universal Kids IP, including but not limited to, dailies, behind-the-scenes material, and marketing shoot footage. They will also have the opportunity to write copy and scripts for consumer-facing marketing material. Interns will be highly encouraged to brainstorm innovative ideas that may contribute to the larger marketing campaign for a given show on USA or Universal Kids. 

 

 

Basic Requirements: 

Must be actively enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution during the entire duration of the program (September 2024 through April 2025). December 2024 graduates are not eligible for our 2024-2025 Academic Year Program. 

Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits). 

Must be authorized to work in the United States throughout the entire duration of the internship (September 2024 to April 2025) - visa sponsorship is not available for this position. 

Must be available to work 16-24 hours per week from September 16, 2024 to April 18, 2025. 

Must be working from a location within a U.S. state during all hours worked. 

Desired Characteristics: 

Students with class standing of junior or above preferred. 

Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above. 

Interest in typography, color and composition, branding and layout, publicity, UX/UI, and/or marketing preferred. 

Proficiency with the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects), AVID, DAM systems a plus. 

Strong working knowledge of social platforms: Tumblr, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, YouTube and Instagram.  

Potential majors include Media, TV, Film, Motion, Visual and/or Interactive Design. 

Passion for entertainment and pop culture. 

Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects. 

Highly organized and eager to learn everything photo related.  

 

The hourly rate for student interns is $17.00. 

 

INFORMATION FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS ATTENDING U.S. UNIVERSITIES: 

To participate in NBCUniversal’s 2024-2025 Academic Year internship program, you must confirm at the time of interview that you will be able to provide US work authorization for the entire duration of the internship. Since the NBCU Academic Year Internship Program spans the traditional “Fall” and “Spring” semesters, please note that you will need to potentially re-apply for CPT work authorization again to ensure you are authorized to work throughout the entirety of the program. 

 

Please also note that future visa sponsorship at NBCUniversal is rarely available for post-grad employment opportunities. 

 

NBCUniversal is an E-Verify company, requiring all employees to have an active Social Security number. Any candidate receiving an internship offer must complete I-9 form with Social Security number within 3 days of hire.
