Computer Lab Assistant
The Office of Information Technology (OIT) Computer Lab Assistants (CA's) assist in operating and maintaining the OIT General Access Computer Labs and Walk-In Help Desks located in Founders (FO 1.206) & Sonora (MC 1.314). This position is up to 20 hours per week in the Fall and Spring semesters, with the potential for more hours in the Summer depending on student course load. This is an in-person, on-campus position.
Lab Duties:
- Guide students on use of the Computer Labs
- Monitor lab equipment
- Basic computer troubleshooting
- Maintain lab cleanliness
- Maintain lab use policies
- Assist with student equipment loan program
Provide Technical Support:
- NetID account help
- WiFi troubleshooting (Windows/Mac/Other, etc.)
- DUO MFA troubleshooting
- Mobile Device Configurations (Apple, Android, Other)
- Malware scanning and advice on best practices
- Assist with access/connection to UTD computing resources
- Document issues using the Atlas ticketing system
- Assist users with the Pharos Print Management System (CometPrint)
- Inform users about IT applications and services available
- Be familiar with campus locations and resources
- Assist users with Poster Printing, sizing, and pricing
- Help maintain CometPrint Stations around campus
- General Troubleshooting help
- Assist Students, Faculty, and Staff with a variety of applications.
This position is in-person and on-campus. The position is customer service oriented. We are seeking candidates with excellent soft skills with a high-level of patience when assisting customers in a face-to-face setting. Having an aptitude for troubleshooting technical issues is beneficial for this role.
The position is eligible for periodic raises based on good performance.
