Job Summary

 

As an Enterprise Systems Intern in University Information Technology Services (UITS). You will have an opportunity to further your skills in WordPress theme development. Your contributions will impact a public facing enterprise platform available to all faculty, staff, and students.

Department -Specific Responsibilities

  • Works on the Enterprise Web Technical Services team (WebTech) gaining hands-on experience in designing, planning, and developing an IU branded WordPress theme for the IU Blogs platform. WebTech supports web hosting, content management platforms, and oversees IU Blogs, a multi-site blogging platform.
  • Takes part in designing and developing a WordPress theme for IU Blogs.
  • Contributes to the documentation of development processes, code, and user guidelines to support ongoing maintenance and future enhancements.
  • Creates mobile first and accessible web experiences.
  • Participates in team meetings, 1-on-1, and other workplace community opportunities.
  • Participates in IU Blogs platform management and customer support.
  • Learning Opportunities
    • Develops an understanding of how to build and maintain WordPress themes.
    • Expands skills in locally hosted WordPress development, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP.
    • Gains experience with Indiana University's Rivet Design System.
    • Introduction to WordPress multisite management and customer support

Required

  • Currently enrolled as a student at Indiana University

SKILLS

Required

  • Enjoys learning and developing new skills
  • Demonstrates knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP
  • Experience with WordPress as an end user and theme developer
  • Familiarity with mobile first and accessible web design
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a collaborative team player

Work Location

This position is eligible for remote work, subject to change in the future based on university policy and business needs.
