Indirect Tax Analyst

Position Summary:

As an Indirect Tax Analyst, you will assist in Stryker’s compliance with domestic unclaimed property laws through timely escheatment of impacted properties.  This position will coordinate the yearly compliance process with our third-party provider and all divisions accounting systems. This will include interaction with division finance staff and various CRFSS Coordinators to ensure items are acted upon to safeguard comprehensive compliance with unclaimed property laws.

What You Will Do:

Coordinate all compliance activities with third-party contractor to collect data, review data and submit data to data portal.  Review data collection results and inquire on large AR items.  Coordinate closure of items processed through escheating and DDL. Coordinate closure of items with division finance teams. Perform data collection twice per year and resolve items for each wave (4) in a timely manner to ensure Stryker does not incur additional costs.

Communicates issues found with data errors to CRFC by using issues listings and attending scheduled meetings to review issues.  Escalates unresolved issues to Manager and CRFC Manager, Site Leader as needed.

Excellent communication skills, strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills with an emphasis on teamwork, time management, follow-through, and issue resolution abilities.

Accountable for sound financial decisions regarding potential refunds and reissues of property that appear to be unclaimed.

Collaborates with internal partners to resolve complex transactions that cross department, business unit or corporate boundaries.

Serve as CRFC resource to clear potential unclaimed property items for multiple business units on multiple ERP’s.

Communicate with customers, suppliers, division finance staff and various CRFC Coordinators regarding outstanding checks and accounts receivable items, as appropriate.

Ensure timely clearing and resolution of potential unclaimed property items.

Respond to unclaimed property inquiries from customers, suppliers, divisions and various CRFC Coordinators as received.

Assist in evaluating unclaimed property processes and recommend improvements to Stryker unclaimed property policy to the Supervisor, Unclaimed Property Compliance.

Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Responsible for other duties and special projects as assigned.

 

What You Need:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or similar discipline with commensurate experience.

Proficient Microsoft Excel skills.

Strong working knowledge of Microsoft office tools required. 

ERP system knowledge required.  

Strong analytical, problem solving and organization skills, as well as, ability to pay strong attention to detail.

Ability to prioritize work, and to keep accurate, detailed and confidential records. 

Excellent customer service skills. 

 

You will need to live within commuting distance to our Portage, MI office. You will need to be in the office 2 days a week, but you will have the flexibility to work from home on the other days.
