Water Wastewater Staff Engineer - Entry Level

The Position

Summit Engineering, Inc. has an opening for a full-time Staff Engineer in our Water / Wastewater Division. You will join a team of engineers who focus on water treatment and delivery, and wastewater treatment and disposal or reuse. The Water/Wastewater Division provides engineering design for many diverse wastewater processes such as waste to energy, facultative ponds, package wastewater treatment systems including roughing filters, membrane bioreactors, and anaerobic digestion, as well as water treatment systems such as oxidation, filtration, disinfection, and reverse osmosis..

As a Water / Wastewater Staff Engineer you will be responsible for engineering and design tasks, and using your education, training and experience to solve complex engineering problems. You will have the opportunity to work directly with firm leaders and experienced engineers on a wide range of interesting projects. 

Job Requirements

• B.S. Degree in Environmental, Civil, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering. (Master’s degree related to water or wastewater treatment preferred but not required.)
• Coursework or job experience related to water and wastewater treatment processes is essential.
• Understanding of hydraulics and fluid conveyance.
• Exposure to soils investigations and percolation testing is a bonus.
• Basic knowledge of AutoCAD and hydraulic modeling software.
• E.I.T. certification is a plus.
• Ability and intent to pursue and obtain a California P.E.
• Exceptional critical thinking skills. Strong technical and professional writing skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication, and a high sense of urgency.
• Valid drivers’ license and eligible to work in the United States.
