Graduate Research Assistant

The University of Iowa – Law, Health, Policy and Disability Center seeks a Research Assistant. This position is part-time (10-20 hours per week) and is necessary to support a contract from the Polk County Mental Health and Disability Services (PCMHDS) as part of an evaluation project. This position is not eligible for benefits. The current duration of this position will be through August 30, 2024. If additional funding becomes available the position may be extended.

Job Duties

·      The employee’s role on the project is to assist with the development and implementation of the six evaluations for PCMHDS. Duties will include:

·      Review documentation of disability services delivered. Documents are retrievable through electronic storage. The employee will extract data, record scoring of reviews and enter data into a computer system.

·      Create charts and manage quantitative survey results

·      Qualitative analysis and reporting of program participant feedback 

·      Write and edit reports and incorporate agency input, primarily in Microsoft Word, may use other word processing software.

·      Communicate with supervisor and other staff via email, and phone.

·      Review and edit reports and presentation materials. 

·      Collect and compile interview data into report form; may at times, conduct interviews with Polk County staff as part of a traveling site review team. 

·      Schedule dates for file reviews and interviews.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree or education/experience equivalency.

Required:         

·      Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams and PowerPoint.

·      Experience of typically 6-12 months working with data; ability to retrieve information in electronic form, in written reports and through interview processes.

·      Ability to communicate in writing through report drafts and email; and orally via in-person or online interview, over the phone and other media communication devices/software.

·      Ability to integrate and present data into reports, requiring proficiency with the use of Microsoft Excel and other databases. 

Desired:

·      Master’s degree or education/experience equivalency

·      Experience in qualitative research / analysis

·      Experience working on federal/state/local grant and submitting documentation required of the grant.

·      Certification in Human Subjects Protections.
