Gables Fellows Program
The Gables Fellows Program is a two-semester paid internship with the City of Coral Gables (Summer and Fall 2024). This is an in-person role for 12 hours a week. The fellowship is designed for students interested in careers in government and will be in the economic development of the city.
Economic Development Department
- Strengthen economic and community vitality by building partnerships and leveraging resources.
- Assist the team to meet its goals of assisting individuals, communities and businesses.
- Conduct policy research on assigned economic development, workforce development, business development and economic resources.
- Engage in stakeholder outreach to help develop and advance special projects.
- Support product development, implementation, and monitoring across team program areas.
- Develop ideas, writing and goals for advertisements.
- Assist in public relations actions and activities.
- Develop a variety of cost-effective marketing initiatives and small business assistance strategies related to economic development to attract and retain targeted businesses and nurture start-ups consistent with the City's overall brand image.
- Write articles for publication along with any requested speeches.
- Gather information from City departments, third-party partners, and other stakeholders in preparation for communications efforts.
- Handle special projects. Conduct research. Compile and analyze data. Study problems and develops solutions.
- Design and implement cost-effective programs and events that promote Coral Gables as a center of commerce and culture.
- Develop and implement special projects and events that reinforce and promote the City’s brand identity.
- Help with the development and implementation of targeted special events -- for downtown employees, residents, and visitors alike -- that strengthen, promote, and celebrate the City's unique brand identity.
