Archeological Technician - National Park Service
As an Archeological Technician, you will perform the following duties:
- Serves as field crew lead for archeological monitoring surveys and excavations, including recording the location of sites, recording archeological and environmental data, and writing summary reports.
- Maintains field notes, field and excavation descriptions, drawings, maps, photographs, and video recordings related to archeological work.
- Evaluates specimens (e.g., lithic ground stone, shell, bone, non-artifact material, etc.).
- Prepares specimens for specialized analysis.
- Performs archeological research.
- Use computer software and digital photography. Use related databases, spreadsheets, forms, maps, and files. Use Interior Collections Management System (ICMS) to catalog artifact collections.
- Understand Southeastern archeology, prehistory, and history sufficient to reliably identify and record cultural remains in the field and in the lab.
