HandsOn VISTA - Pueblo Grande Museum
Join the City of Phoenix S’edav Va’aki (formerly Pueblo Grande) Museum to connect children to the deep history in Phoenix and to the indigenous cultures who are here. In this role you will work to increase visitation by local Title I schools to positively impact academic outcomes by providing engaging and culturally competent learning opportunities. You will accomplish this by developing partnerships with schools; improving museum volunteer recruitment, onboarding, and management; and creating a youth volunteer program. The successful applicant will gain experience in different areas of the museum field, both inside and outside of their niche, as well as gain a better understanding of local government and park management practices. The ideal candidate would have some volunteer or team leading experience and/or previous experience working with, or connection to, indigenous people communities (or solid cross-cultural experience) ADDITIONAL BENEFITS: $100 per/Qt grocery card
This is a National Service position as a part of AmeriCorps VISTA program. Members who move over 50 miles qualify for a relocation allowance as well as a settling in allowance. All of our VISTA's receive a modest taxable living allowance of about $1,700/month (before taxes), federal loans qualify for forbearance. After the completion of one's year of service, they also qualify for an educational award valued at about $7,300, which can be used towards federal loans, or further education.
