Speech Language Pathologist

JOB DESCRIPTION

 

JOB TITLE: Speech/Language Pathologist

DEPARTMENT: DISTRICT

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  1. Current State of Minnesota Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) licensure required or ability to obtain one by August 27, 2024.
  2. Current American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) Certification of Clinical Competence (CCCs) preferred; however Clinical Fellowship (CF) may be available.
  3. Background check prior to hire.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  1. Provide direct and indirect speech and language therapy services to PreK-12th grade students within the Fosston School District.
  2. Complete speech and language therapy evaluations and re-evaluations to identify students who are eligible to receive speech and/or language impairment services.
  3. Provide communication screenings and pre-referral intervention support to students using a continuum of service-delivery options.
  4. Analyze demands of the curriculum and effects on students.
  5. Contribute to the development of Individualize Education Programs (IEPs), including establishing student goals and objectives.
  6. Monitor the implementation of IEP accommodations and modifications.
  7. Design and program high-, medium-, and low-tech Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems.
  8. Update and train staff in the use of AAC materials and devices.
  9. Design curriculum modifications and support.
  10. Provide staff development to school staff (i.e. teachers, paras) related to the identification and support for students with speech and/or language impairments.
  11. Consult with teachers and educational staff to match student's learning style and teaching style.
  12. Design/recommend adaptations to curriculum and delivery of instruction.
  13. Observe students in classrooms and settings throughout the school building.
  14. Consult with outside entities regarding speech and language services.
  15. Collect and report student performance data.
  16. Complete required due-process compliance paperwork.
  17. Document third-party (Medicaid) billing activities.
  18. Provide support to paraprofessionals to ensure speech and/or language activities are being carried out to fidelity within the classroom.
  19. Write student evaluation reports.
  20. Participate in and facilitate IEP/504 meetings, evaluation summary meetings and parent-teacher conferences as required.
  21. Participate in professional development activities specific to profession.
  22. Help maintain the safety of all students within the school environment.
  23. Attend meetings, trainings, in-services and perform job-related duties as assigned.

WORK DAY/WORK YEAR: Full time school year, salaried per Master Teacher Agreement
