Estimating and Project Management Assistant

Estimating and Project Management Assistant for Drilled Foundation Construction

Job Description:
The Estimating and Project Management Assistant is an entry-level role that will engage in all facets of estimating and project management. The role is 75% to 100% office/computer based with occasional visits to project sites for training, meetings, and business development purposes. An ideal candidate will be trained to self-perform as an estimator and/or project manager role within 1 to 2 years. Remote work is considered after an office-based training period. Project management responsibilities may require more travel, time onsite and in the office. The candidate may focus on either estimating or project management depending on aptitude. Any candidate interested exclusively in either estimating or project management may also apply.

Job Roles and Responsibilities:
Estimating:
·        Routinely field new bid opportunities from potential customers via email and phone communications.
·        Manage and sort through potential bids on bid procurement websites.
·        Download, organize, and manage estimate files in the company server.
·        Maintain and organize the estimate database and schedule.
·        Collaborate with customers to clarify bid quantities, scope of work, and procedures.
·        Review large sets of engineering drawings and specifications and identify drilled foundation takeoffs.
·        Prepare drilled foundation takeoffs by modifying and summarizing estimate files, engineering drawings and specifications.
·        Retrieve quotes from materials vendors and subcontractors based on takeoff quantities (concrete, rebar, etc.).
·        Manage the progress and deadlines of estimates.
·        Follow up on submitted proposals.
·        Collaborate with senior estimators to review bids.

Project Management:
·        Complete vendor enrollment documents for customers.
·        Complete and manage “One Call” underground utility mark out requests.
·        File transportation permits and make routing maps for oversized or overweight vehicles for each project.
·        Manage project submittals like safety documents, procedures, rebar detail, and concrete mix designs.
·        Coordinate materials orders and deliveries.
·        Prepare project documents, specifications, and schedules for field personnel.
·        Collect and process field documentation for billing, change orders and safety procedures.
·        Cost track projects and compare results to estimate.
·        Communicate and coordinate operations with field personnel and the Customer’s management.

Experience, Education and Relevant Skills Prerequisites:
·        Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering (Civil, Geotechnical, or equivalent), Economics and Business, Finance, Mathematics, or Geology is preferred.
·        0-3+ years’ relevant experience.
·        Excellent computer skills required, including:
o  Windows 10 & 11 operating system.
o  Basic computer trouble shooting.
o  Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis on MS Excel.
o  Other relevant software includes MS Word, MS Outlook, Adobe Acrobat Pro DC, Google Earth, & Internet Browsers.
o  Downloading and organizing files on a computer or server.
·        Mathematical, reading, technical writing, and note taking skills.
·        Strong communication, organization, safety, and teamwork skills.
·        Local hire preferred (within 1-hour commute to Stockton, NJ), but relocation will be considered.
