Park Attendant III-SEASONAL

Typical starting pay for this position:  $17.46 up to $20.39 per hour

 

The State of New Hampshire, Department of Natural and Cultural Resources has a seasonal vacancy for a Park Attendant III at Wentworth Coolidge Mansion, Portsmouth, NH.

SUMMARY: Supports visitor services and ensures favorable conditions for Wentworth-Coolidge Mansion, Fort Stark and Fort Constitution, including their hiking and recreational areas, beaches, welcome centers and museums through the provision of customer service, operational support, instructional support, instructional/educational services and/or specialized maintenance/mechanical duties, working independently as a lead staff member in a designated program area with increased contribution to the overall operation.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High school diploma or high school equivalency credential. An additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for three months of required work experience.

Experience: Six months or equivalent experience (1040 hours) in park operations, outdoor recreation, retail, hospitality, customer service, or a related field. Each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.

License/Certification: Must possess a valid driver's license.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provides and ensures the delivery of quality customer service to visitors in person, over the telephone and during guided tours or loading operations; receives and responds to complaints escalated from subordinate staff.

Assists with supervising subordinate Park Attendants and other positions to include assigning job duties, providing on-the-job training, and coordinating staff assigned to tasks or projects such as the preparation of displays.

Monitors inventory of supplies and goods and assists in ordering, receiving, storing, coding, stocking and displaying merchandise. Make recommendations to improve inventory control.

Reviews cash handling activities to include calculating daily sales transactions and donation boxes, reconciling receipts with ledgers, and monitoring transaction records and files. Prepares and makes bank deposits.

Assists supervisor prepare regular and special reports related to sales, stock on hand, receipts of merchandise, cash receipts, deposits, and other activities.

Performs general interior and exterior upkeep to maintain park conditions, to include helping park operations staff maintain restrooms and providing additional coverage as needed to maintain high standards of cleanliness and appearance.

Interacts with other park operations staff and the public to answer questions and solve problems.

Monitors for non-compliance with rules and regulations by staff and the public and either corrects or notifies supervisor.
