Get hands-on experience with a small international nonprofit organization! Give and Surf is a small 501(c)3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to empower the local communities of Bocas del Toro, Panama through education and community development. Since 2011, we have offered free educational programs and services to the indigenous Ngöbe Buglé and Afro-Caribbean communities in the low-income and rural areas of Bocas. These services include early childhood education, after-school programs, summer camps, English classes, school lunches, university scholarships, school transportation, professional training, and extracurricular activities. We are also beginning to implement a food sustainability program!
Sustainable Food Program Specialist Information
Help Give & Surf launch our new Sustainable Food Program! We are looking for interns to volunteer 3-6 months to help with this exciting new program. Sadly, the consumption of highly processed foods in the local indigenous communities is causing an increase in malnutrition, obesity, diabetes, and other illnesses. Furthermore, the cost of the these imported goods is increasing thus creating more financial strain on already impoverished communities.
Give & Surf's Sustainable Food Program has a multifaceted approach including building community and school gardens, teaching about the healthy foods that grow free & naturally in our own backyards, and providing various workshops and seminars on nutrition, cooking, and sustainable agriculture.

- Intermediate or advanced Spanish
