Technical Communications Intern (Remote)

A New Leaf – Nonprofit Technical Communications (Remote)

At A New Leaf, communication is critical to our success as a community organization. As a technical communications intern, you will aid our Domestic Violence and HR administrative teams to develop, implement, and manage new projects that focus on compliance, data quality, and standardization of the processes that empower their operations. In turn, our organization will provide you with the opportunity to exercise your skills in an amicable work environment under a diverse team of professionals while making a significant impact on the community.

What You Will Do

Depending on your area of interest and expertise, you will be able to:

  • Assist in the development of flowcharts, visuals, and documents that support data quality initiatives being implemented in the division.
  • Develop data entry manuals in accordance with program needs.
  • Develop standard operating procedure manuals for reporting activities, customized to meet unique program requirements.
  • Participate in virtual meetings and assist with projects as required.

Expectations of You

Internship will require a time commitment of 10-16 hours. Exact hours are flexible according to the intern’s class schedule, but some availability during business hours is necessary to meet with supervisor and/or attend meetings. Internship breaks are placed in the schedule to allow for midterms, finals, and holidays.

Interns will perform work primarily remotely, must be capable of working independently.

Requirements:

  • Enrolled in Technical Communication program OR related major with completion of related coursework
  • Masters Students preferred, Bachelor level students accepted if completed basic Technical Communication coursework (ASU's TWC 401 Fundamentals of Technical Communication & TWC 431 Fundamentals of Technical Editing or comparable classes)
  • AZ DPS Level I Fingerprint Clearance card required to access LEAF computer system
  • Be able to pass a background check
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and other relevant software applications.
