As the Revenue Tax Supervisor 3, you will be responsible for leading and supervising tax accounting functions which include: accurate and timely processing of taxpayer financials and refunds, processing Early Audit appeals, and overseeing compliance with tax laws through accurate determinations. You will apply your leadership experience and knowledge to effectively manage/lead the Early Audit 4 group that consists of 15 employees. In addition, you will lead and participate in team efforts to plan, design, develop and implement division wide and department wide programs/activities that improve overall performance, adherence to compliance with tax laws, and are in alignment with our strategic visions and priorities.
Teleworking employees are required to live in Minnesota or in a state bordering Minnesota.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Two years of supervisory experience
OR
Three years of professional experience
Professional or Supervisory experience must include:
- Supervisory or leadership experience demonstrating the ability to train, assign, evaluate work, hire, discipline, and reward employees.
- Experience and/or education in conflict resolution or resolving critical issues.
- Experience demonstrating strategic planning skills and the ability to multitask and prioritize work.
- Experience interpreting laws, regulations, and procedural documents and prepare written reports.
- Demonstrated communication skills sufficient to exchange information and establish effective internal and external working relationships with stakeholders.
Applicants who meet the above experience requirements will be further evaluated based on the following during the interview process:
- Knowledge of accounting and auditing principles and practices.
- Technical tax knowledge, including court rulings, regulations and administrative policies and procedures.
- Customer service and interpersonal skills sufficient to interact and negotiate with taxpayers and/or their representatives.
- Communication and presentation skills.
- Skills in reading comprehension.
- Skill in problem-solving.
- Skill in analysis.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of state and federal individual income tax and/or business tax laws, regulations and rulings
- Knowledge of the department’s penalty and interest statutes and policies.
- Ability to research tax laws, regulations and court rulings
- Ability to lead a work group or team
- Ability to work independently
- Knowledge of the department’s abatement policy, appeal and protest procedures and taxpayer rights
- Human relation skills which would allow one to resolve critical issues and questions from taxpayers
Physical Requirements
Requires occasional moving of articles such as boxes, accounting records, laptop computer, and portable printer.
Additional Requirements
Prior to an offer of employment, a background check will be conducted. This will include, but is not limited to checking degrees and licensures, criminal history, and tax filing and payment history. All individual income tax filing and payment obligations must be current prior to interviewing for this position.
