The State Water Resources Control Board’s Division of Financial Assistance has an opening for a Student Assistant in the Emergency Drinking Water/Cleanup and Abatement Account Unit, in the Safe and Affordable Drinking Water Section, under the Office of Sustainable Water Solutions Branch.  The position is located at 1001 I Street, Sacramento, CA 95814, close to light rail stations, other public transportation, awesome restaurants and more.

 

Duties:

Under the close supervision of a Senior Engineering Geologist and consistent with good customer service practices and the goals of the State and Regional Board’s Strategic Plan, the incumbent is expected to be courteous and provide timely responses to internal/external customers, follow through on commitments, and to solicit and consider internal/external customer input when completing work assignments. The Engineering Student Assistant works on a variety of sub-professional tasks related to planning, design, construction and implementation of water quality protection and improvement projects.  Projects are related to cleanup, drinking water, clean beaches, storm water, nonpoint sources pollution watershed protection and integrated regional water management projects.  Knowledge of basic engineering principles is necessary for the incumbent to be successful in the position.  Some travel may be required.

Salary information – CalHR salary rules allow appointment at the entrance rate (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 2, § 599.673) of a classification. For classes with alternate ranges, placement is based on education/experience.
