POSITION SUMMARY
Assists the Law Department with investigations, research and analysis in support of cases.

WORK EXPERIENCE: The application must show two (2) or more years of full-time paid experience in an area related to the duties as described below; for example: conducting interviews, performing research analysis, performing field investigation, serving legal papers, completing thorough background investigations, conducting discrete social media research, and investigating misconduct.
EDUCATION/TRAINING: The application must clearly show a minimum of an Associate's degree from a fully accredited institution in Human Resources, Administration of Justice, Law, Public Administration, Criminal Justice, or a related field.

POSITION DUTIES
- Performs investigative assignments; researches and evaluates complaints concerning allegations of misconduct and/or negligence in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Conducts interviews and/or background investigations of plaintiffs/claimants, witnesses, City employees and officials; collects and analyzes evidence and statements.
- Prepares written memoranda and/or investigative reports to present findings to the assigned attorney/claims manager.
- Reviews contracts, medical records and financial reports or other files as needed.
- Conducts site visits and scene analyses, including taking measurements, photographs and preparing drawings/graphs and exhibits.
- Maintains confidential case files and other records, manually and/or by automated methods, and prepares accurate, comprehensive reports, correspondence, etc.
- Maintains organized files, investigative reports, photographs, or any other work product.
- Testifies as requested or required.
- May be asked to assist with hearing/trial and witness preparation.
- Serves subpoenas and other legal process.
- Performs general office support such as relaying messages, ordering supplies, preparing correspondence, taking meeting notes, filing and submitting approved bills for payment.
- Attends and participates in all mandatory in-service training activities.
- Performs activities and functions of related personnel and such other related tasks and duties that are assigned or required.
