Digital Asset Management Intern

Medica is a non-profit health insurance company headquartered in Minnetonka with offices in Madison and Omaha. The company is active across the heart of America and provider health care coverage in multiple markets. Medica is engaged in our communities through the charitable grant-making work of the Medica Foundation and through active employee giving and volunteer programs.

Medica will host a 12-week, paid Internship Program. Interns will have the opportunity to network within Medica and with other Interns through weekly Lunch-and-Learns and opportunities to hear from Executives. We strive to offer a well-rounded education of the inner workings of a health plan. Each internship offers a meaningful experience and impactful projects you will be able to discuss with future employers. At Medica, we look forward to our Summer Internship Program each year.

Department Introduction:

Medica’s Digital Asset Management Intern will primarily focus on assisting with the day-to-day tasks of uploading assets into the Metadata Asset Catalog (MDAC), entering content into MDAC, and contributing to a larger project aimed at improving workflow or metadata structure within MDAC to enhance the findability of assets. Additionally, the intern will assist with administrative documentation of system changes associated with the project.

Expected Outcomes:

  • Learn about the health insurance industry and digital asset management systems
  • Gain hands-on experience organizing files within a corporate setting
  • Apply library and information science skills outside of traditional institutions, which is particularly valuable for MLIS students
  • Practice reference and user assessment skills, as well as information architecture skills
  • Understand the difference between content management and asset management
  • Work on day-to-day tasks and manage a larger project
  • Gain practice presenting to upper leadership

Medica’s Digital Asset Management Intern is expected to complete a project focused on the organization of metadata in MDAC, culminating in a presentation during either the Content/Copy Meeting or the Experience Design Team meeting.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program
  • Ideal candidates will be studying digital asset management, library science, database or content management, information science, or a related field

Skills and Abilities:

  • Professional written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and team player skills
  • Strong self-management skills and ability to prioritize and manage time
  • Proficient technical/computer skills, including Windows and Microsoft Office

This position is a Remote role. The employee must be located in any state in which Medica is an employer and can work remotely 100% of the time.
