Technical Environmental Science Internship

Technical Environmental Science Internship / Graduate or Masters level 

 

Trederra is the first company to recycle tire treads into high-quality outsoles for footwear brands. Our materials offer exceptional durability and greatly increase the overall sustainability impact of any completed shoe. We are in the process of launching Trederra to the performance footwear marketplace. 

 

We are looking for a graduate or masters-level student focused in polymer science, chemistry, chemical engineering or similar background with a passion for environmental sustainability to help us research and document process, material specifications, research questions from 3rd party Life Cycle Analysts, and document the impact of keeping tires out of landfills while helping footwear brands improve the durability of their product. 

 

The work can be done remotely or on-site, and either part-time while in school, or as a summer internship. 

Responsibilities will be to: 

  • Compile research and produce documentation of the process from cradle to gate.
  • Work with online databases and indexes to register our materials
  • Coordinate findings and field questions from 3rd Party Life Cycle Analysts
  • Draft white papers based on available research

 

Pay: $18-20/hour depending upon experience in field. 

 

Duration: This internship is intended to run for 2 months, with opportunity to extend the internship as needs and interest arise. If part-time during school, we will need 10-hour commitment/week. If full time during summer, it can be between 30-40 hours per week. 

 

Qualifications 

Interested applicants should be passionate about sustainability. They should also possess, at a minimum: 

  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, polymer science or similar technical field required.
  • Strong technical understanding of environmental issues, international policy, and the sustainability landscape.
  • Familiarity with chemistry and ability to review and write technical reports.
  • Strong writing and editing skills.
  • Ability to work individually and meet deadlines.
  • Superb research and analytical skills.
  • Ability to grasp complex topics in a timely manner and translate them into layperson language.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and comfortable working via teams.
  • Passion for relevant topics such as corporate sustainability, climate action, environmental protection, and more.
  • Exposure or course work in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Environmental Policy, preferred

 

 

Requirements 

Applicants must possess a bachelor’s degree and have or be in pursuit of a master’s or graduate degree in one of the following areas: Polymer Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering.
