Assistant Photographer

Louisiana Tech's Office of University Communications is seeking a dedicated and passionate student for the position of Assistant Photographer. This role offers hands-on experience with photography equipment, including Nikon cameras and lenses, as well as on-camera and off-camera flash systems. Priority will be given to candidates who have experience photographing events, sports, and/or portraits.

Skills:

  • Eagerness to Learn: Willing to develop skills in photography techniques, equipment operation, and software usage
  • Image Editing: Familiar with Adobe Lightroom and Mac computers for post-processing and retouching
  • Adaptability: Able shoot in different environments and adjust techniques accordingly
  • Open to Feedback: Willing to receive constructive feedback from supervisor and to apply feedback to improve photography skills
  • Time Management: Must manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Communication: Collaborate with team members and communicate ideas effectively
  • Professionalism: Conduct oneself with professionalism and integrity in all interactions, representing the university in a positive light

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the University Photographer
  • Photograph on-campus events
  • Create studio and environmental portraits
  • Edit photographs to enhance image quality and ensure consistency with university branding standards
  • Execute tasks independently as needed

Requirements:

  • Submission of a portfolio of images is mandatory
    • This can be in the form of a website URL, a Google Drive folder, an Instagram account, or similar
  • Experience in photography is essential, though ownership of camera equipment is not required
  • Able to lift up to 40 lbs of equipment on occasion
