Success Coach Description
First-Year Success Coaches help incoming students as they are transitioning from high school to college. They meet with students in a required first-year seminar course (GST 104) and help them navigate the campus, make healthy choices, and make lasting friendships. Our coaches:
- Assist with facilitation in a first-year seminar: GST 104 - Experiential Learning in College
- Provide group and 1:1 success coaching for an assigned cohort of first-year students
- Accompany students to campus events, speakers, and performances to promote social wellbeing
Eligible students have the option of using this experience for 1-credit of internship.
Requirements
- Strong interest in helping others
- Desire to connect with other students, staff, and faculty
- Rising sophomore standing or above (30+ earned credit hours by fall 2024)
- Good academic standing (2.0 GPA or higher)
- Good disciplinary standing with SUNY Oswego
- At least one semester completed at SUNY Oswego (any major)
- Eligibility to enroll in GST 304 in fall 2024 (M 5-7 PM)
- Commitment to the role through October 18, 2024

Hiring Timeline
