Intern, Inventory Planning
POSITION PROFILE
The demand planning intern will participate in all facets of demand planning. The intern will own a set of products and will manage the end to end planning and forecasting of these items. In addition, the intern will contribute in the product launch process and actively manage specific product transitions.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create a demand forecast based on historical usage factoring in inputs from sales, marketing, finance, exceptional demand analyst, and product life cycle analyst. Will also need to consider other factors such as recurring customer demand, seasonality, promotions, and other market conditions that affect the sales plan.
- Responsible for developing a demand and purchase plan with a high accuracy and achieving fill rate targets at each location.
- Responsible for projecting accurate accessory forecast for related items in the product set being managed.
- Based on the demand plan and inventory planning parameters, will create the supply forecast understanding key factors such as product transitions, demo room and other non warehouse inventory.
- Responsible for overall inventory levels at a national level and will work with deployment team to achieve location inventory targets.
- Work to achieve correct balance of inventory across locations to minimize inventory exposure and freight costs.
- Run daily monitoring reports to ensure plan, forecast, and inventory levels, fill rates, forecast, and requirements all meet expected targets and are correct.
- Review and create action plan for slow and non-moving items.
- Work with Product Life Cycle Analyst to review transitioning/EOL/Obsolete items and lead the development of the monthly scrap list.
- Prepare presentation and present information for inventory operations review and collaboration meeting with Marketing.
- Assist the Exceptional Demand Planning Analyst by processing exceptional demand requests from the sales team.
- Other tasks as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience, and Certifications)
- Typically Required: Pursuing four year college degree with Supply Chain degree.
