Backstage Crew Member - Summer & Fall 2024 - Work Study or Regular Pay

Come join our team at the Young Auditorium, the Center of Live Events & Entertainment in the area! We are a professional venue located on the UW-Whitewater campus.
The Young Auditorium is looking for students to be a part of the Backstage Crew working events including speeches, concerts, plays, dance recitals, magicians, and Broadway tours. The Backstage Crew is responsible for setting up and tearing down events as well as working them backstage or in front of a sound, lighting or video console.
Responsibilities Include:
- Setup & teardown of equipment
- Programming & operating audio, lighting, video technology
- Assist visiting artists & technicians prepare for shows
- Help maintain a safe environment backstage
- Actively pursue knowledge of equipment
- Adhere to industry standards & best practices
- File, update and read event paperwork
- Maintain updated personal schedule in shift scheduling software
Minimum Requirements:
- Ability to work with new people on a regular basis
- Positive attitude
- Excellent communication
- Excellent punctuality
- Ability to lift 50lbs
- Ability to work early mornings or late nights
- Ability to be on feet for long periods
- Job requires walking, leaning, bending, twisting and carrying
- Prefer ability to work at height up to 70ft
- Prefer individuals with experience or interest in theatre, music, live events, technology, computer networking, video, sailing and similar
