Non-Profit Health Equity Internship
Living Well Black (LWB) is a non-profit organization located in Washington, D.C. LWB is launching a go-to source of health and wellness information to help educate and empower the Black community. LWB is building a community of people dedicated to advancing health equity, and addressing information gaps through partnerships, information, social media campaigns, direct outreach, research, and advocacy.
Many decisions are made in and around Washington, D.C. every day. LWB takes a close look at what is going on in D.C. to keep you informed. We advocate for policies that focus on improving Black lives and oppose policies likely to be harmful to the Black community.
Job Description:
This internship is an excellent opportunity for students who are interested in public health, health equity, patient empowerment, non-profits, digital and social media management, content development, communications, and/or fundraising to gain experience in:
- Communications, strategy, development, implementation and execution of a new business
- Hands-on participation in business development and partnerships
- Unique insight into organizational structure, current events, and issues related to a nonprofit organization
- Exposure to a wide range of staff positions and opportunities within a non-profit setting
Key responsibilities/projects:
- Hands-on participation in a small non-profit environment with a start-up mentality
- Assist with day-to-day activities including blogging, editorial, and social media content development and contributions, research, site analytics, proposal preparations, newsletter development, press releases, and other writing assignments.
- Assist with the creation, design scheduling of LWB’s social media content calendar. Follow trending topics and key events that are a fit for LWB social media programming. Create buzz, traffic and name recognition for LWB’s to increase brand reach.
- Help identify and assist with key events for LWB. Assist in planning, preparations, communications and event attendance list.
- Assist with program development and design for flyers and promotional products, publications, branding materials, etc.
- Develop communication materials for donors, track current and relevant performance
- Conduct foundation grant research, new sourcing and prospective donor research
- Provide other general assistance as requested.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Creative and innovative mindset with a willingness to pitch ideas and work closely with a small team
