Study Breaks is a website written and illustrated exclusively by college students, and we’re looking for student graphic design/illustration interns for the Summer 2024 semester.
- Create illustrations to supplement our Study Breaks Magazine articles. These illustrations will be featured on our website and several of our social media channels.
- Along with creating over 30 original designs over the course of the semester, Illustration interns will receive feedback from the Editor in Chief, which will focus on the technicality of their craft.
- Illustration interns will have the opportunity to hone their illustration, animation and workshop skills in a constructive and collaborative environment.
- Whether your specialties are in feature illustrations or social media marketing materials, we’ll find the right spot for you to truly shine.
THE BASICS:
- BI-WEEKLY, you will attend group feedback sessions with your fellow designers and the Editor-in-Chief. We will offer any advice, feedback, constructive criticism, and guidance.
- These duties require 8-12 hours of your time every week.
- Familiarity with Zoom and Slack is required.
- Experience with Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Procreate, or other digital design programs is required.
- This is an unpaid, remote internship.
The Summer 2024 program runs from May 20 to Sept. 6, 2024, and applications close Apr. 30, 2024.
In order to qualify for the internship, you must be enrolled in a college or university (A.A., B.A., M.A., PhD). A degree in English, Journalism, Editing or some related field is preferred, but not required.

WHAT YOU'LL RECEIVE
Design interns will receive feedback from the Study Breaks Editor in Chief, which will focus on the technicality of their craft. They will also become familiar with Slack and the opportunity to work with Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator.
In addition, design interns will accrue dozens of bylines, illustrate several different subjects and employ a variety of different styles in accordance with the Study Breaks Style Guide. Interns will be published online and social media channels, and will be exposed to a variety of other student writers and artists from across the country.
