Economist (Recent Graduate, Multiple Locations)

The US Army Corps of Engineers is seeking full-time economists to be located in one of six geographic locations: St. Paul, MN, Rock Island, IL, St. Louis, MO, Memphis, TN, Vicksburg, MS, or New Orleans, LA. This position is advertised through the Rock Island District, but can be filled in any of the six districts.

The position is open to upcoming graduates and to individuals who have graduated in the last 2 years (since summer 2022) with an undergraduate and/or graduate degree in Economics or a related degree with 21 credits or more of economics (plus 3 credit hours of statistics, accounting, or calculus). This is a great opportunity to begin a career with a Federal Agency. The position can be filled as a GS-7, GS-9, or GS-11 Economist (0110) depending upon applicant qualifications. Starting salary is between $49,025 to $72,553. This position is eligible for partial telework, up to two days a week. This is not a full-time remote position.

The Economics Branch conducts economic analysis for water resource related projects within the Mississippi River Basin including flood risk management, inland navigation, and ecosystem restoration. Economists have the opportunity to become experts on water resources within the Mississippi River Basin and across the country, working on studies with increasing levels of responsibility and complexity. Economists are encouraged to be creative in solving water resource challenges through the use of proprietary statistical models and coordinating with an interdisciplinary team of technical professionals.
