THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Financial Programs Trainee, you will learn the processing of claims/receivables, recording adjustments, collections, and any other functions related to employee generated debts to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania from 43 state agencies. You will also learn how to complete the auditing, processing, and accounting of approximately 1,900 salary and travel advancements for over $1.4 million annually, covering all agencies under the Governor's jurisdiction as well as using SAP to record all incoming checks and remittances for Bureau of Commonwealth Payroll Operations (BCPO) tracking and disposition purposes.  Accuracy and attention to detail is vital within this role, as well as excellent communication skills and the ability to work cohesively with a team.

 Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Alternate work scheduled (AWS) is available upon completion of the probationary period.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time.  In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection.  If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Four years of experience in bookkeeping work which included twelve (12) credits in accounting; or
  • A Bachelor's Degree including twelve (12) credits in accounting; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes twelve (12) credits in accounting.

 

Other Requirements:
