Engineering Technician

THE POSITION

 

Engineering District 10 is currently on the lookout for a skilled Engineering Technician to join their team. As an Engineering Technician, you will be responsible for conducting entry-level technical inspections and material testing on various construction projects within Engineering District 10-0. Your main objective will be to guarantee that all work is carried out in compliance with the approved construction codes, plans, standards, and specifications. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

 

In this position, your responsibilities will include conducting inspections on materials and workmanship for highway construction projects, as well as assisting in the design of these projects. You will also be involved in the inspection of various phases of highway construction work, such as checking grades, elevations, and stake out of roadways and structures. Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining daily written records of your activities, preparing payment estimates and progress reports, and assisting in the inspection and testing of concrete products to ensure compliance with specifications and standards. You will also assist with checking grades, elevations, and stake-out with contractors and surveyors, as well as inspecting the placement of various materials. Furthermore, you will be responsible for completing project documentation, resolving field problems, and utilizing technology such as the PSA application and other apps on the iPad for inspection review summaries, photographs, and sketches. 

 

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
 

  • Full-time employment, 37.5-hour work week. 
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
    • Vendor controlled position, may change based on operational needs. 
    • Overtime and travel as needed/directed.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. Telework would be on an Ad Hoc basis. To be discussed further during interview process. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Indiana.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

 

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
 

  • An associate degree in surveying, drafting, designing, civil, or any other appropriate field of engineering technology.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree. 


Other Requirements:

  • This particular position requires possession of a valid Class C Driver's License.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
