Youth Summer Break Counselor

 

Position located near IUPUI Campus! (position is part of the Community Work-study program at IUPUI)

Youth Summer Break Counselor

Position: Part-time or Full-Time Youth Summer Break Counselor

 

Job Description: The primary responsibility of the Youth Summer Break Counselor is to plan, implement, and engage youth in a variety of activities during summer break. Other responsibilities include direct supervision and instruction for youth ages 5-13 years of age, as well as supervising transition periods (lunch, restroom breaks., etc), and other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications: Applicant must be a responsible and enthusiastic self-starter who is able to follow instruction and requires little supervision. The ideal candidate will be a diligent worker who is able to be helpful in any situation and enjoys working with children in various settings, such as outdoors, swimming, hiking and the classroom. The ideal candidate will also be a good role model—patient, nurturing, and kind.

 

Due to our licensing and grant requirements, applicants must be aged 18 and over.

Upon hire, applicants must consent to and pass a drug test, fingerprint and background checks, and a TB test. Several training courses will also be required.

 

Hours: This is a part- time or full-time, seasonal position of up to 40 hours per week for 10 weeks. Most work will be completed between the hours of 8a to 6p and the final schedule will be determined based on staff and programming needs.

 

Salary: This is an hourly position with a rate that begins at $13 an hour and is commensurate with experience.
