Student Philanthropy Officer


Pay Rate:
$16.00/hr.

Job Summary:
The University of Akron is seeking motivated and enthusiastic students to serve as Student Philanthropy Officers in the University of Akron Engagement Center. In this role, you will engage with alumni, parents, and friends to support the University of Akron's most urgent fundraising needs, including scholarships, student programming, and academic excellence. Through various communication channels such as phone, text, email, and video, you will establish and maintain strong connections with the University of Akron community.


Responsibilities:
• Engage with alumni, parents, and friends to solicit donations in support of the University of Akron's fundraising priorities.

• Communicate effectively and persuasively via phone, text, email, and video to encourage giving.

• Build and maintain positive relationships with donors by providing excellent customer service and stewardship.

• Utilize donor management software to track interactions and update donor information.

• Collaborate with the University of Akron Department of Development team to meet and/or exceed fundraising goals and objectives.

• Attend training sessions and meetings as required.


Qualifications:
• Current student at The University of Akron with a commitment to the university's mission and values.

• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to connect with diverse individuals.

• Enthusiasm for fundraising and philanthropy.

• Comfortable using technology and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Previous experience in fundraising, sales, customer service, or related field is a plus.
