Social Media & Marketing Intern

The Sotomayor Program cultivates and develops future leaders by placing high school, college, and law school students from underserved communities and diverse backgrounds in judicial internships in state and federal courts in the New York City area. We are looking for a Social Media Intern to join our small but mighty team. As a Social Media intern, you will be responsible for creating and executing content for our program, helping to share our message, and build excitement from new and current supporters.

Responsibilities include: 

  • Create, curate, and edit static and video content for our channels on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and Linkedin.
  • Plan and schedule content using scheduling platform and internal project management tools
  • Work alongside the team to create a plan for social media strategies
  • Interact with followers and potential supporters by communicating and answering questions through the organization's social pages
  • Assist in implementing plans to increase followers on popular social media websites such as TikTok, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn
  • Implement a content editorial calendar to manage content and plan specific and timely marketing campaigns based on relevant dates throughout the year
  • Integrate all channels of marketing (social media, SEO, content marketing, email, print, and digital marketing)
  • Research platform best practices and optimization tactics
  • Establish milestones, goals, and track/report on progress

Qualifications:

  • Experience with social media (Facebook, twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn) 
  • Enrollment in and good standing with an accredited college or university, pursuing a bachelor or master’s degree in marketing, communications, or related field 
  • Attention to detail and excellent organization skills 
  • Possess creativity and an eye for design
  • Knowledgeable with technology and comfortable working in a virtual office environment 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills 
  • Available to work up to 10 hours a week, though these hours do not need to be between normal working hours (i.e. 9am to 5pm). 

Compensation:

This position is an unpaid internship. However, students are encouraged to pursue academic credit for placement and will be allowed to retain authorized content to expand their portfolio.
