Bio Energy Intern
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CIVE) at Colorado
State University seeks a dedicated and motivated Student Research Intern to
contribute to bioenergy research activities. This part-time, hourly position
offers an invaluable opportunity for a student to gain hands-on experience
while supporting a Colorado OEDIT funded project focused on constructing
and evaluating a solid-state digester and performing specific components
evaluation. The intern will work closely with experienced professionals,
participating in various technical tasks related to research projects including
writing technical reports, monitoring and reporting on system findings, and
supporting the team with any related tasks.
Essential Job Duties:
As a Student Research Intern in the CIVE Department, you will:
1. Assist in conducting general evaluations and performance assessments of
mechanical and hydraulic systems and their components.
2. Support the configuration of components for testing performance.
3. Participate actively in the development and testing of prototypes and new
technologies.
4. Collect, analyze, and interpret data to contribute to research findings.
5. Collaborate with team members to identify and solve technical challenges.
6. Assist in the preparation of reports and presentations for both internal and
external stakeholders.
Decision Making:
While working on research projects, the Student Research Intern will make
decisions under the guidance of project leaders, interpreting data and
establishing criteria. The role involves contributing to varying conventional
approaches, refining methods, and actively participating in problem-solving.
Conditions of Internship:
This internship requires a pre-employment criminal background check for
new hires.
Required Qualifications:
- Current enrollment as a student at Colorado State University.
- Pursuing a degree in Engineering or a related field.
- Forklift and skid steer operational experience is a plus.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Demonstrated interest or experience in mechanical systems, fluid
dynamics, or related areas.
- Strong analytical skills with a focus on data collection and interpretation.
- Effective problem-solving abilities and keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience with laboratory and field testing.
- Familiarity with data analysis software and tools.
- Prior involvement in a research or technical development setting.
