Early Childhood Behavior Intervention I Fall Internship 2024
Organization Overview:
Tuesday’s Child is a nonprofit organization started in 1980 at Children’s Memorial Hospital by Dr. Victoria Lavigne (Clinical Child Psychologist) and Katherine Augustyn (Early Childhood Specialist). The early intervention/parent-training program offered by Tuesday’s Child is designed for families with young children ages 18 months through 6 years of age. Combining parent training and a child center program, Tuesday’s Child helps families promote healthy functioning and connection. Job Summary: Reporting to the Clinical Director, the Graduate and Undergraduate interns help support the classroom, provide direct child care, implement learned positive behavior management strategies, and observe parent / teacher interactions.
Essential Duties Responsibilities:
- Work directly with supervisor, classroom teachers, and clinical staff to learn the core concepts of Tuesday’s Child.
- Understand the major tenets of child behavioral intervention, therapeutic strategies, and developmental screenings.
- Attend weekly group clinical supervision and monthly individual check-ins to ensure learning goals/objectives are met.
- Apply positive behavioral management strategies and child mental health services.
- Foster perspective related to the needs of children, parents, and families served by the organization.
- Utilize a trauma informed lens when interacting with all clients, staff, and peers.
- Follow the identified values and mission statement of the organization.
Required Qualifications:
- Completion of High School level education, or similar certification.
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program related to early childhood education, social work, psychology, or a related field.
- Availability to work two (2) days per week.
Desired Qualifications:
- Previous experience working with children ages 2 - 6.
- Availability to work on Saturdays
