AmeriCorps Positions Available

RAD utilizes 20 AmeriCorps members annually to work the front-lines of a range of services. I contacted you because after I read through your interests and skills, I thought you might be interested in one or more of our available positions. Below are brief descriptions of the programs and opportunities.

Boys and Girls Club of the High Rockies and B&G Club of Chaffee County

There are two Boys and Girls Clubs Programs:  The Boys and Girls Clubs of Chaffee County (BGCCC) and The Boys and Girls Clubs of the High Rockies (BGCHR). The Clubs provide recreational and youth development programs that strengthen healthy lifestyles, improve academic success, and promote positive character and leadership skills.   AmeriCorps members plan and implement before / after school activities with an aim to 1) address the opportunity gap experienced by rural youth, and 2) strengthen the academic performance of students who have fallen behind the curve. AmeriCorps members work closely with teachers, guardians, other service providers, and especially the students ages 6-14.

Montezuma School to Farm Project in Montezuma County Colorado

MSTFP uses gardening as a platform to teach youth about nutrition, growing science, and the value of cooperation and achievement.  MSTFP partners with local schools to provide gardening opportunities that enrich individual health and well-being, while providing direct access to nutritious foods. MSTFP serves in three communities - Dolores, Mancos and Cortez, all located in Colorado’s southwest corner.  The region is the home of Mesa Verde National Park and a wealth of micro zones and high altitude growing climates - from high desert and red rock canyons to the San Juan Mountain Range. The area prides itself on its' "no-frills, just hard work" ethic along with its strong agricultural heritage. The students come from diverse cultural backgrounds, including the Montezuma County Native American population (Navajo, Ute Mountain Ute, and Puebloan Tribes) as well as a strong Hispanic population. The MSTFP team includes seven AmeriCorps members.
