Associate Consultant, Structural Engineer

This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Structural Engineer for our New York, New York office.  Be involved in projects with our Transportation Structures Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our clients' objectives and solves their challenges. 

Provides support to technical staff, engineers, and project managers for due diligence, remediation, improvement, and/or construction of building and infrastructure projects in the public and private sector.  Tasks may include basic assistance with the research, design, concept development, and construction of load-bearing structures or structural elements, such as buildings, bridges, roadways, and mechanical structures.  Generates accurate and concise reports and documentation regarding assigned installations and construction specifications.  Ensures that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, safety, structural soundness, and functionality.

Your Impact

  • Assist in analysis and design of transportation related structures with a focus on bridges.
  • Utilize analysis software to develop structural models
  • Perform site visits for structural inspections
  • Work with cross-functional teams in executing project work.
  • Assist with work plan preparation and coordination of site work.
  • Support and develop design drawings and specifications for transportation infrastructure with a focus on bridges
  • Prepare technical reports
  • Review contractor submissions
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering, or closely related discipline.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
  • 1 to 3 years of relevant post education experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong technical writing, analytical and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with an emphasis on quality work products.
  • The selected candidate must have the ability to work in the United States immediately.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • The successful candidate will have 0-3 years of internship experience in discipline Engineering.
  • Experience using Revit, AutoCAD and/or Microstation software.
  • Engineer in Training Certification.

Compensation:
Expected Salary (all locations): $64,100 - $105,820

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
