Global Diversity, Equity & Inclusion and Learning & Development Intern

This role is open to be based from: New York, NY; Seattle, WA; San Francisco, CA

We are looking for a Global Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion (DEI) and Learning & Development (L&D) Intern to join our team for 10 weeks this summer. This role will be hybrid from our New York, Seattle, or San Francisco office location. The intern is expected to be in office approximately 3 days/ week. We are looking for an individual that is action-oriented, has a passion for writing with a marketing mindset, demonstrates an interest in continuous learning and improvement, data storytelling, DEI, and learning and development, and is ready to play a vital role within the DEI and L&D teams.

The DEI and L&D Intern should possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, have the ability to manage multiple tasks/projects, and apply a curious mindset to development opportunities. They should be able to work well in a fast-paced environment, prioritize appropriately, and possess strong follow-up and creative problem-solving skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Canva, Excel, and PowerPoint, keen attention to detail, ability to handle confidential information, and ability to interact with all levels of staff is critical. Interest and familiarity with the field of human resources, DEI, and Learning & Development through past coursework and/or other internships is desirable.  

Responsibilities:

  • As an intern with the Global DEI and L&D teams, you’ll have the opportunity to support both teams with the advancement of various strategic initiatives. You’ll be helping to conduct research, write messaging and marketing materials, assist with planning and executing events, and support the management of our information-sharing and learning management systems (LMS). In this role, you’ll build a strong foundation in effectively advancing global DEI and L&D goals and programs. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • DEI:
    • Support development and execution of programming and internal DEI events and observances
    • Draft social posts and event updates for internal Workplace platform
    • Assist with DEI learning and development projects and formal trainings
    • Update DEI SharePoint site and Workplace posts
    • Assist in maintaining team documents, resources, and archives site
    • Help conduct research and monitor DEI trends
    • Assist with DEI team project management
  • L&D:
    • Transcribe interviews and surveys from our leaders into compelling biographical stories
    • Support the curation of online learning content to supplement L&D and business initiatives
    • Learn to be an administrator of our Learning Management System (LMS), including running and pulling reports, administering and tracking training programs
    • Utilize data and analytics, graphics, and storytelling to design presentations that convey impact
    • Draft internal marketing campaigns and communications related to L&D programming
    • Assist with applying L&D concepts, tools, and materials into existing programs and platforms for the Global People Team

  • Demonstrate professional behaviors and pursuit of excellence in all endeavors
  • Communicate with employees effectively, serving as an ambassador of the Edelman brand, while living the firm’s core values
  • Take ownership of the work and see projects through within designated deadlines
  • Support internship program activities, such as intern program administration, college career fairs, etc.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties for projects as assigned by the DEI and L&D teams

Basic Qualifications:

  • 0-6 months’ work experience or internship in DEI, human resources, organizational design, communications, journalism, marketing, or a related field
  • Must be a rising senior with an anticipated graduation date between December 2024 to June 2025

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Pursuing BS/BA/MA in a related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Interest in innovative HR, Organizational Design, and Learning & Development in a professional services environment
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated strong work ethic and the ability to provide quality work to stakeholders and teams
  • Proficiency and resourcefulness with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Previous experience in DEI, L&D, HR or Communications Marketing and/or related fields preferred, but not required

Additional Information:

  • The intern is expected to work a full-time schedule (40 hours/ week) for the duration of the internship
  • The internship will begin on Monday, June 10th and end on Friday, August 16th
  • Edelman does not provide any form of housing reimbursement
  • Only candidates who are authorized to work in the United States will be considered
