CoBE Tech Student Employee Technician – Spring 2024, Summer 2024, and beyond - Work Study or Regular Pay

CoBE Tech is recruiting for UW-W student technicians to provide Hyland Hall with outstanding customer service and support.

Some of the duties include: Help Desk, A/V support, video production, video camera recording, phone & in person support, appointment scheduling, classroom & lab technology troubleshooting, wireless wi-fi set up, install and support various software, help with password resets, live event support, set up telephones and voicemail, develop training materials, multifunction copier maintenance, equipment checkout/delivery/maintenance, computer image assistance, inventory, training others, shared co-op with other technology departments on campus, and more.

Training is included. No prior experience is necessary. All majors are encouraged to apply.

Work hours during the academic year are in-office for approximately 8-20 hours per week based-on scheduling needs and student availability. Work hours are scheduled around student academic and extracurricular commitments.

Optional summer work hours may be up to 36 hours per week, depending on student availability.

We serve approximately 150 faculty and staff customers in Hyland Hall, plus various support for students. We are located in Hyland Hall, 3001.

This is a fun job and potential internship opportunity that will give you real enterprise work experience.  Many of our graduating students started their careers at higher levels due to the hands-on technical experience they learned while working at CoBE Tech.

Preferred Qualifications:

-Can occasionally lift up to 40 pounds (about the weight of a 5 gallon water jug)

-Can sit or stand for long periods of time as well as the ability to climb ladders and crawl under desks

Parking and/or transportation is the student’s responsibility. Work study students are highly encouraged to apply.

CoBE Tech has an $11/hour starting wage. Summer work earns an extra $1/hour incentive.

We strongly prefer freshman and sophomores as well as students with summer work availability. 

UW-W typically offers a substantial discount for living in the dorms over the summer. Summer office hours are Mon-Fri 8am-4:30pm. Incoming fall 2024 freshman may apply for summer work that will lead into fall and beyond.

 

CoBE Tech fall/spring office hours:

Monday - Thursday 7:30am - 7:00pm  

Fridays 7:45am - 4:30pm  

There may be some available options to work early morning, evening, and weekend hours with plenty of notice for special events.

For providing your spring work availability in the application, please add at least a 15 minute buffer before and after classes or other commitments for availability. For example, if you only have a 9:30am class and a 2pm class on one day, list your availability as 7:30am-9:15am, 11am-1:45pm, and 3:30pm-7pm. Please list your total availability for each day. Do not list your class schedule.
